Obituary of Eric A. Perez

Eric Perez, age 40, of Rockaway, NY, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 2, 2023. To say only the good die young would be an understatement because Eric was one of the best. His larger than life personality could be felt every time he walked in a room and his ability to make everyone laugh will be truly missed.

Born in Brooklyn, NY on August 17, 1983 to Marie (Deliso) Perez-Colbert, Eric went on to work for the New York City Department of Sanitation, where he took pride in being part of New York’s strongest. On November 19, 2010, Eric married Christine (McGrath) Perez after knowing and loving her for most of his life. Together they have a beautiful daughter, Madelyn Perez, both of whom Eric leaves behind as the absolute loves of his life.

Eric is also survived by his Aunt Loretta (Deliso) and Barry Weinstein, and their children Brian (Angela) and Melissa (Jamie); his Aunt Angela (Deliso) Cataudella and her children, Christopher (Felicia), Alfred (Kim), and Vanessa (Joseph); his mother-in law Barbara McGrath; his sister-in- law Jennifer Santangelo (Greg); two brothers-in-law, John (Rina), and Timothy; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, in-laws, and outlaws who loved him dearly. Eric is pre- deceased by his mother Marie, his grandparents Rose and Anthony Deliso, his brother Jonathan Borriello, and his uncle Al Cataudella.

Eric taught us many things, including to eat when you’re hungry, even if it’s the middle of the night, that the Star-Spangled Banner should be played to kick off any great day, and that there is no speaker too big or too loud for the perfect playlist. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and Jets, a dog lover, and a music enthusiast, but nothing brought him more joy than time spent with his family, as evidenced by his frequent use of #famfirst.

Eric’s time with us was cut much too short, but he lived every day he had with an energy that was unmatched. While he is no longer here with us, we will always be able to find him in the dopest of skies.

Funeral mass will be on Thursday December 7, 2023 at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church at 9:45 AM.129-16 Rockaway Beach Boulevard Belle Harbor, NY 11694.

Committal service will immediately follow to Moravian Cemetery. 2205 Richmond Road Staten Island, NY 10306.
