Obituary of Ralph H. Reed
RALPH H. REED
2/20/1926 - 9/27/2023
Ralph Henry Reed, long-time resident of Brooklyn, NY entered into eternal rest on 9/27/2023. Ralph was born on February 20th, 1926, the child of Rushmore H. and Mary A. Reed. Ralph proudly served his country in World War II as a member of the Army Air Corps. Upon discharge from the military, he worked as a mechanic at Flatbush Chevrolet before being hired by The New York Telephone Company where he worked as an installer for almost 40 years - a job he described as “like a fine wine, it got better with age…”
He met his beautiful bride Eileen (nee O’Connor) at a dance in Bay Ridge Brooklyn; they wed on August 29th, 1953. Together they raised 8 children. Feeling lost after the death of his beloved Eileen in 1994, Ralph volunteered his time helping feed the homeless, along with many other widows and widowers. While doing “God’s Work” he would come to meet the person who became his closest and dearest friend, Marguerite. Ralph realized his life was entering its “Second Act” and with Marguerite by his side, they both enjoyed fantastic trips, wonderful meals and many laughs with their circle of friends.
Ralph is survived by his children: Ralph E. (Kathleen), Timothy, Maureen O’Connell (Matt), Peter (Patty), Robert, Janet Marzano (Daniel), Julie, and Mary Ellen Wuerker (Ken). He was also a beloved grandfather to 8 grandchildren and a great- grandfather to 6 (with one more on the way!).
May he rest in peace.
