Just learned of Carmine's death from Ellen Morris. Connie and family, I am so sorry for your loss. A true and kind gentleman. I experienced your kindness and generosity during my 7 years at St. Bernard's and afterwards. My last memory of Carmine was from just a little over a year ago while vesting in the sacristy at St. Bernard's for Fran Zujkowski's funeral. An older man with a funny hat on and and a colorful costume approached me and greeted me by name - when I failed to immediately recognize him, he lifted the hat off of his head and said "It's Carmine" and of course it was so I said "Where's Connie?" and Carmine quickly pointed her out among the mantilla clad women just outside the door.
The world will be poorer without his presence. I will remember him in my prayers at Mass and advise my cousin, Rosemary Breen, of his passing.
With Sympathy,
(Fr. Ed Stewart
