Margaret Ahearn

Obituary of Margaret Ahearn

Margaret Ahearn entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2020 at the age of 90.  Daughter of Joseph and Geni Grassi, Margaret was born in Brooklyn on May 10, 1929. She was the dear sister of Frank (Deceased) (Florence). In 1949, she married the love of her life, John Francis Ahearn (deceased) and they had two children, Johnny (Deceased) and Janet (John). Her life was blessed with the addition of her 2 granddaughters, Lauren (Kenny) and Kristen (Sean). She was the treasured GiGi. of Ryan, Sean, Katherine, James, Rowan and Connor. Her sisters and brothers in law, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends cherished her.

Margaret lived her entire life in Brooklyn, but she traveled the world. Summers were spent at Rockaway Beach, and for the last thirty years with her family of characters on West Court.  Margaret worked in the insurance industry.  She was a faithful parishioner at St. Vincent Ferrer, St. Thomas Aquinas, Mary Queen of Heaven and more recently, Resurrection. Her faith sustained her. Margaret loved music, dancing, and completing crossword puzzles and crocheting.  She was also an avid knitter, organizer, baker and seamstress. She kept the family mended and sewed the holes in our lives.

Margaret will be remembered by her family and friends for her life of self sacrifice and devotion, her kindness, sweetness, and the brightest smile you ever saw. Everyone who came into Margaret's light felt her shine.  She always offered a kind word, or a compliment, and would make you feel as if you were family.

She could not do enough for others, and always did so with joy in her heart and that beautiful smile on her face.

Due to these extraordinary times, there will be no viewing or church services.

Margaret will be interred
at Holy Cross Cemetery.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated
in her honor at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to
