We are here today to honor and remember the life of Linda Guarneri. We are blessed to have loved her and be loved by her. She was a strong woman who lived her life unapologetically herself.
Linda loved many things. She loved her cats, the Yankees, coca-cola, Napoleon pastries, the Olympics, Neil Diamond, playing board games, family dinners and celebrations: just to mention a few. But most of all she loved her family. They brought her so much joy. She had a special relationship with each of them.
Her family members would like to share their parting words:
From Her Son Andrew:
Growing up I remember my mom as a hard worker and someone who always had your back. And if you messed up she had your backside…that I can tell you. She loved the Yankees, her cats and her family…in that order. As years went on she dealt with her illnesses. Instead of focusing on the negatives, she chose to live through her family and their highs and lows. I think that says alot about her spirit and character. And believe me she was a character with very particular tastes. What stands out most is her fight and ability to bounce back under some very tough circumstances. You’ll be loved and missed. Love Andrew
From Her Son Nicholas:
Mom was my first introduction into music. She used to always have her radio on in the kitchen tuned to oldies on WCBS-FM 101.1. Because of her I found my love of Rock & Roll and music. From the 50’s Doo Wop stuff to the Beatles and the bands of the 60’s, all the way through the Disco of the 70’s, mom always had music on. Later when I started to play the drums, she always listened to try to figure out what I was playing. When I started playing in bands, playing gigs and making demos she would get excited. She was my biggest fan and supporter. Even up until a few years ago, she was still listening to some of my old demos of cover bands that I had played with. I’m so glad I was able to play for her, bring her joy and return the favor. I love you mom always and thank you for introducing me to my passion.
Love Nicky
From Her Sister Karen:
My sister showed me kindness and love. She showed me how to take care of the people I love like she did for me and many others. When I was little she took care of me and I never left her side. From cooking holiday dinners, playing scrabble, listening to the oldies or just laughing and talking we had the best times together. We have a special bond that will never be broken. I love her so much. Even though a big part of me is now missing, she will always be a part of my life and always in my heart. She truly is the best sister that I could have ever wished for. Rest in peace my beautiful sister. Love Karen
From Her Brother-In-Law John:
Linda was the sister that I never had. She was my pal and my baseball buddy. She loved her Yankees and teased me about being a Mets fan. I will always remember all the games that we enjoyed together. She will always be near and dear to my heart. Rest in peace Zig. Love ya Killer. Love John
From Her Daughter-In-Law Patricia:
Linda always told me how lucky she felt to have me as a daughter. But I was the lucky one. Our relationship was always so easy. I am grateful that she was my second mom. I could talk to her about anything. She was such a good listener. I will always cherish our time together and all that I learned from her. I love you Momma. Love Patri
From Her Granddaughter Elizabeth:
Nana was the glue of the family, connecting us all with our love for her. I loved sharing good news with her because she always listened to every word and was the happiest person in the room. I loved sharing the difficult things with her because she would always make me feel better. As a kid I would tell her who was on my nerves, teachers, other kids, etc. and she would threaten to “take care of it” , if you know what I mean. I viewed her as so tough and she truly was. She was the first call on my birthday every year and I’ll always remember and appreciate her love. I will always think of her anytime I read a James Patterson book, watch the movie “The Ringer” and of course anything with the Yankees! Love Elizabeth
From Her Granddaughter Sarah:
I miss the drives to Staten Island with her, listening to Rubber Soul on the radio. I miss going to her apartment and watching the Twilight Zone, hoping to pet her cat Daisy who chose to stare at me with wide eyes in the darkness. I miss her soft hands and hugs, which contradicted her strong voice and opinions… (Ex. I hate sitting, basketball shouldn’t be a sport). But what I miss the most is the fact that without fail she was the first person to call on our birthdays, as early as she possibly could. With any event or detail, she always remembered: as I will always remember these special moments with her. Love Sarah
From Her Nephew and Godson Alex:
They say life is too short. You’ve taught us to make the most out of life. Your light will always shine onto us all, guiding us in our future endeavors. Love you Aunt Lele. May you rest peacefully for all eternity. Love Alex
In Closing:
Linda would want you to remember her and the times you had together with a smile in your hearts. We know she is in a better place watching over us. We will always love you Linda.
