Obituary of Albert Humphries

Albert Humphries entered into eternal rest on June 21, 2024, with his family at his side. He was born on April 10, 1940, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, to parents Arthur Humphries and Lilliemay Cunningham. He was raised by his grandmother, Alice Cunningham. Albert was one of three siblings, including his sister Helen Rogers and brother John Humphries.

Albert received his early education in the South and graduated from Winchester High School in 1959. After graduation, he entered the armed forces, serving in the Air Force and being stationed in England. During his stay in England, he met his future wife, Clover Miller. He also served time in Colorado Springs. Upon completing his service, he returned to England after 18 months of service to marry Clover on March 13, 1971.

The couple moved to Brooklyn, New York, where most of Albert's family had settled. They initially lived with his Aunt Ruby Cunningham. On February 6, 1972, their daughter, Rosalyn Alberta Humphries, was born. The family later moved to their first apartment at 257 Kingston Avenue, where they lived until Rosalyn was six. They eventually settled in Coney Island at 3002 Surf Avenue.

Albert worked for the State of New York for 28 years and retired at the age of 62. That same year, his only granddaughter, Tiara Martin, was born. Tiara was the light of his life. Albert was a hardworking man who deeply loved his family.

Albert leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Clover Humphries; his daughter, Rosalyn Humphries; his granddaughter, Tiara Martin; two nieces, Helen Faulkner and Sharon Ingram; his nephew, Maurice Rogers; great niece; Bianca Faulkner; great nephew, Justin Rogers; and cousins, Margaret Ann and Jacqueline.
