Obituary of Marie Caputo Siano
Marie Caputo Siano, a beloved pillar of her community, passed away on May 2, 2024, at the age of 76. Born to the late John and Rachel Caputo, Marie's life was defined by her unwavering love for her family and her passion for animal welfare.
Marie was the loving mother of Michael (Susan) Siano and the cherished grandmother of Rachel. She was the beloved sister of Anthony Caputo and the adored aunt of Andrea Parvez and Christina (Sean) Cavataio. Her great nieces and nephews, Brandon, Gianna, Leonardo, Adrianna, Lucas, Isabella, and Madelyn, held a special place in her heart.
A true Brooklynite through and through, Marie lived her entire life in the borough, deeply rooted in the vibrant neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay. As a third-generation resident, she carried on her family's legacy with pride and reverence. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church, where she found solace and community.
Marie's greatest passion in life was her love for animals, particularly cats. She dedicated countless hours to cat rescue efforts, tirelessly advocating for their well-being. Running her own rescue group, she specialized in trap, neuter, release (TNR) programs, striving to make a difference in the lives of stray and feral cats. Her home was a sanctuary for many feline friends, and she spared no effort in ensuring they had a comfortable and loving environment.
Marie's compassion knew no bounds, and her impact on the animal community will be felt for generations to come. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, and unwavering devotion.
In honoring Marie's memory, her family encourages donations to be made to local animal shelters or rescue organizations, continuing her mission to care for those in need.
Marie will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched and the hearts she forever changed.
