Obituary of Richard M. Hermann
It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Richard M. Hermann, a cherished resident of Brooklyn. Richard entered eternal rest on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on January 2, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Richard was the beloved son of the late Philip and Helen (Izzo) Hermann.
Richard served his nation with honor as a member of the National Guard during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he dedicated 35 years of his life to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), where he began as a bus driver and later retired as a supervisor. Richard's commitment to his work was matched only by his unwavering devotion to his family, his passion for the Mets, and his deep affection for his loyal dog, Harley.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Antoinette (Yaccarino) Hermann, his sons Richard A. Hermann (Lisa) and Christopher M. Hermann, and his cherished grandchildren Richard, Anthony, and Nicholas. Survived by his dear siblings Helene Demas (Mike), Diana Boozarjomehri, and Philip Hermann. He is also survied by his Nieces Ariel Demas, Janine Carey (Michael), and Tara Laverdiere (Chuck) and was preceded in death by his brothers Michael Hermann and William Hermann.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the repose on Monday, April 8, from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM, as well as on Tuesday, April 9, from 2 to 5 PM and 7 to 9 PM, at Marine Park Funeral Home, located at 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, April 10, at Our Lady Help of Christians R.C. Church, located at 1315 East 28th Street, Brooklyn, followed by entombment at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale.
