Angelo Gioia

Obituary of Angelo Gioia

Angelo Gioia (69) of Brooklyn, New York, passed away at home on March 27, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Angelo Gioia was born to John Gioia and Madeline Attardi-Gioia on February 12, 1955 in Brooklyn, New York where he has resided for the entirety of his life.  Anyone who knew Angelo would remember him as a police officer, a family man, a dog dad, and above all a great and funny guy.  He took pride in his time on the police force and retired as a police lieutenant after 20 years of service.  Of all his accomplishments in life he was never more proud to be a husband, father, and Papa.  Angelo enjoyed spending his time with his family and walking his dogs, Belle and Bubba.  In his retirement he spent his time watching his grandchildren and enjoying weekends at his Poconos home.  He was always dedicated to his children attending sports events, band concerts, and always celebrating their personal achievements with them.

Angelo Gioia is survived by his wife of forty years, Audrey Perry-Gioia.  He is survived by his three children and their spouses as well as his five grandchildren.  His children and in-laws include, John Gioia and Jacqueline Gioia, Samantha Gioia and Stavros Calakos, and Angelica Gioia-Haridi and Mostafa Haridi.  His five grandchildren include Maria and Angela Gioia, Nicola Gioia-Calakos, and Zayn and Lyla Haridi.  He is survived by his two sisters, Fran Ventimiglia and Denise LaRosa (Vincent LaRosa), as well as his brothers-in-law Paul Perry (Therese Perry) and E.G. Perry.

Angelo will be dearly missed by his family and friends.  Although remembered as a quiet man, memories of his sense of humor will continue to be spread amongst those who knew him well.  His passion for gardening, backyard barbecuing,  and DIY home projects will continue to live on with his wife and children.  He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband, father/father-in-law, Papa, and brother/brother-in-law.
