Obituary of Lyonel Janvier

Lyonel Janvier, a cherished resident of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on February 25, 2024, at the age of 69. Born in Petion-Ville, Haiti, on October 4, 1954, to Armand Janvier and Maitresse Victor, Lyonel was recognized for his respectful and quiet demeanor. He was academically gifted, enjoyed playing soccer, and was passionate about music, reading, and taking long walks. Lyonel also played a significant role in Plan de Parrainage, a non-profit organization in Haiti.

After completing his high school education at Lycée Jacques Premier in 1976, he went on to obtain a Bachelor's degree. Lyonel served as an SSA L3 with the NYPD, showcasing his dedication to public service. A devoted family man, he deeply loved his wife, cherished his family, and adored his children and grandchildren. Lyonel was a polyglot, fluent in Creole, French, English, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese, demonstrating his broad interest in cultures and languages.

He is survived by his loving wife Witlene Janvier of Brooklyn, NY; children Rodnel Janvier, Fabienne Dubique, and Mitchell Pierre-Louis; grandchildren Alvin Dubique and Soyenne Dubique; sisters Adaline Janvier, Louisemene Janvier, Anaida Janvier, Gertrude Janvier, Anite Janvier, Wilda Janvier, Assephie Janvier; and brothers Emile Janvier, Audent Janvier, and Jean Etzer Janvier.

The visitation for Lyonel Janvier will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 9:30 AM - the family will gather at the funeral home by 8:30 AM. The Committal Service will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens in New Jersey.
