Obituary of Charles F. Hansen

Charles F. Hansen,100, of Breezy Point, NY passed away peacefully in his home on February 3, 2024. Charles was born August 21, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY to Charles and Ella Hansen.

Charles (Charlie) lived most of his life in Brooklyn, NY and enjoyed spending many winter months in New Port Richey, Florida. He was an avid baseball fan who grew up rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers, but when they left Brooklyn, swore a permanent allegiance to the NY Mets. For many years he enjoyed skiing, horseback riding and bowling, where he met his beloved wife of 47 years, Beatrice. He believed that working hard led to a heathy and successful life. After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked for over 55 years, spending the first 31 years as a salesman and the latter 24 as a self-employed house painter until the age of 77. In his later years, he enjoyed going out to dinner with many friends and loudly singing patriotic songs as well as his standard, "take me out to the ballgame".

Charlie is survived by his wife, Beatrice and children Chuck (Jacqueline), Debra (Thomas) and Michael (Susan).

Cherished Poppa to Jillian (Evan), Jaclyn, Samantha (Louis), Justin and Mark, as well as beloved Poppa Charlie to his great-grandson Brayden.

Beloved Brother-in-law to Mary Castellano.

Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and friendliness. His departure creates a void that will be felt by his family and many friends, whose lives he enriched with his laughter, generosity and enduring friendship. As we remember Charlie, let us celebrate the life he led and the love he shared with all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will always be missed, but never forgotten.
