It was about 20 years ago that I met Dr. Polovy as I came in for a Bilingual Secretarial position. Once I saw her, I knew she was a woman of faith, it was evident on her face. Once I was hired, we became close, not just professionally but also personally too. Dr. Polovy got to know my children. My son at the time attended UPK. Years later, my son became a chef and my daughter a sailor in the U.S. Navy. She knew them and would ask for them every time and would say, “Every time I see the Food Network, I thought about your son, on how they would get items and create a meal!” We would talk about “Chopped, Diner Drivein&Dives” she would say “I can’t even cook, I’ll just buy it instead!” We would laugh, she would ask about my daughter, the military, politics and current events. We would speak on these issues and sometimes she would get upset on the current situation. Then she would say “Jesus will provide” always concern for the well being of the students and the staff. Even up to a day or two before we spoke on business issues. The last beautiful memory my family will always remember is when Dr. Polovy handed me a pink bag, it was a gift for my granddaughter. I was so surprised and touched of her sweet gesture. She would say, “I hope they would like it?!”I’ll say, “of course they would.” When I got home and saw it, it was a beautiful hard cover children’s personalized book and the best part was the inscription “Wishing you sweet dreams every night! Dr. Patricia Polovy 2023”
The next week, I told her they loved the book including the baby!
That made her smile, and with much gratitude we gave her a photo with the baby holding the book, she loved it so much, she took it home with her. Thats how Dr. Polovy was, she was sweet, caring and loved the children. I remember being in her office and seeing the students walk by and they would say “Goodbye, or Good Morning!” and Dr. Polovy would smile and wave to them. Dr. Polovy you will be greatly missed, your legacy educating our children will not be forgotten and will continue as long as the good Lord allows it.
Until we met again!

Dr. Polovy was a visionary and inspirational leader as well as a pioneer in the field of bilingual special education on Staten Island. She leaves behind a legacy that will forever be remembered in our hearts. Pat’s impact on Little LAMB was profound, and we are committed to honoring her memory by continuing her work and maintaining the values she instilled in our organization.
This is a challenging time for all of us, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to everyone who knew and loved Dr. Polovy especially her sister, Marian Polovy. As we mourn the loss of our leader, let us also come together to support one another.
Love,
Pat’s Little LAMB Family

My heart is broken. Sleep in eternal peace Dr. Polovy. Thank you for all that you did for me and my family when I lost my mom and my son. I will never forget you. You were tough but you had a heart of gold. I know you are resting now in the Lords arms and with the rest of your family. Marian will always be in my prayers.
With love Sandra and Family.

Rest in Peace, Patty, and I pray that Marian will find solace in our Lord, Jesus, to Whom they both devoted their lives, hearts and souls in the Most Blessed Sacrament.

With a heavy heart, I reflect on the passing of Dr. Polovy, my dear Ed Director at Little Lamb Preschool. Her departure leaves a void that echoes the loss of a truly exceptional soul. Her kindness, understanding during challenging times, and unwavering willingness to help others, especially when my husband fell ill, touched my heart profoundly.
I extend my deepest condolences to her sister, whom she loved and admired so much. The sorrow of this loss is deeply felt. Dr. Polovy's legacy of compassion and dedication will forever resonate within me, and she will be dearly missed. May she rest in peace, knowing the enduring impact she had on my life and those around her.
