Obituary of Andrew "Butch" John Cahalan

Andrew "Butch" John Cahalan (Age 60) of Breezy Point, NY passed away on July 14, 2023.

All those that knew Butch loved him, he was that kind of person. Butch was born on January 1, 1963 at Brooklyn Hospital and is survived by his devoted wife Geraldine and his adoring son Andrew (Kristen Kelleher) who he could not be more proud of.  He is also survived by his loving parents Andrew and Janet, his siblings Patricia (Martin) McCluney, Noreen (Joseph) Bruno, Kerry (Dennis) Kelleher, Jill (Richard) McDade, Brian (Jennifer) Cahalan & Christine (Michael) Shipman, and sister in-laws, Barbara (Robert) Spencer, Carolyn (Edward) Feltham and Janet (Steven) Greenstein, and was pre-deceased by his in-laws Geraldine and Robert Frank. Butch was blessed to have twenty-four nieces/nephews, seven great nieces/nephews, many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends. Butch was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas and Nazareth High School. Butch worked for the NYC Police Department (NYPD) patrolling the streets of Brooklyn for 20 years. Post retirement, Butch worked various jobs in private security.

Butch was a witty, honest, and “down to earth” guy who would talk to anyone and everyone about everything and anything.

Butch was a loyal son who cared for his parents up to the time of his passing. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews for his playful attitude and loving nature. He was always the organizer/quarterback for the football games at any family gathering. Butch, an avid sports fan, loved the Rangers, Giants, and Yankees. He enjoyed horse racing, and sharing “insider tips” with his parents and buddies. While Butch may not have been a world traveler he did enjoy family vacations to Aruba, the Outer Banks & Chapel Hill, NC, Saratoga and Atlantic City and trips to Albany for Giants training camp. Butch enjoyed being with family and friends, always providing lots of laughs. Butch passed peacefully surrounded by family members and lifelong friends. He will be missed by many for the wonderful man he was.
