Dear Linda, Ann Marie, Mary Pat and Theresa,
First, my condolences on the loss of Ray, Second my apologies not getting to the wake or mass today as I just found out this afternoon. I am truly disappointed not being able to pay my last respects to Ray.
Ray was a man's man, but always had a firm handshake then pull you in for a bear hug every time I had seen him in the past. He was a gentle giant. I was fortunate to catch up with him at Bryan and Courtney Ambery's wedding last summer, as we had not seen each other in quite sometime. He shared the story of his struggle but through out the conversation always remained up beat and positive that he would beat it. I guess you have to look at it that God wanted one of his favorite sons with him now.
As your hearts are now broken and tears have taken hold, know that Ray is no longer in pain, and his suffering has ended. We all as humans are material in nature and want our loved ones to never leave, even when they are suffering, We are selfish by nature. But know that Ray is now with God and all your other relatives who have gone home before him.
Also know that as time passes the hurt sorrow and maybe even anger will subside... the tears as well will be fewer and you all will begin to heal. I nor anyone else can tell you how long this will take, but I assure you in time the fond memories will overtake the sorrow, the heart will begin to heal, you will begin to smile and remember all the good times, from young babies and children to the group of fine outstanding adults and loving parents you have all become. It will get easier.... but you will never, we will never forget Ray.
Just know that Ray will remain with you all forever till we all meet him again, he will be your new guardian angel. He will be by your sides, talk with him tell him how you are, he is with you he will hear you. That light breeze on a very calm day will his way of letting you know he is with you.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time, may the good Lord comfort you at this time.
Love and friendship always,
Mike McGovern and Family

Ray was certainly one of a kind: funny, athletic, good natured & passionate about life. We had many fun times on & off the Rugby pitch. Rest well brother, you fought the good fight & your legacy lives on!
