A memory from the Gregs: Pat always understood the liturgical significance of a hymn, or of one of the Gregorian Mass formulas - the ninth, or the particularly beautiful and rarely used tenth Kyrie, Gloria, etc. Without being pushy about it, she would quietly and correctly observe one or two features of the music that called for attention. Mr. Edward Quinn, and Mario Giacci, later a priest, were knowledgeable too, and they respected her understanding. All or us were grateful for her fine voice and her understanding of chant technique.
Pat was good-humored, well informed about current events, and a great conversationalist. My wife hadn't been familiar with New York. Pat attended a party in our honor around New year's, 1976-77, shortly after we were married, and talked helpfully about current museum exhibits (Joan was an art historian). The last time that I saw Pat was at a Gregs reunion luncheon about ten years ago, when she still took an interest in everything that all of us were doing. She reminded me of a couple of things that Joan had said so many years before; Joan had died a few years before that reunion and it was a consolation to me to hear something about her from Pat. May she rest in peace. Phil O'Mara
