Obituary of Peter R. Forgenie
In Loving Memory of
Peter Robert Forgenie
Passed: April 16, 2021
Born: August 1, 1928
Peter was known by his family as Robert and was also fondly called “Bobbert” by those who knew him as a child.
He was born on August 1st, 1928 in Basse Terre Moruga, Trinidad. Robert married his beloved wife Vilma Peltier on October 29th, 1960 and thereafter they had two children. In 1969, Robert and his family migrated to the US and settled in Brooklyn, NY where they would have another child. Robert was employed at Chubb & Son insurance company in accounting and worked there for over 15 years.
Robert loved to dance, laugh, tell jokes, play cards and plant in his garden. He was our resident comedian who had a contagious smile and laughter.
Robert is the fifth child of Charlotte Forgenie and Dickson Lucien Forgenie and is predeceased by all his siblings, Andrew, Monroe, Cecil, Ena, Albertina, Margaret, Lillian, Kelvin, Joseph, and Jean.
He is the father of Michelle, Gillian, and Peter; grandfather of Jenelle, Justin, Malik, Nicholas, Kyle, Jasmin, and Jayda; great grandfather of Isaiah, Aliyah and Zhaky; brother-in law to Marjorie Kimble Delandro. The uncle to the children of Andrew, Cecil, Kelvin, and Joseph Forgenie and to the children of the Celestain’s, Lafond’s, Williams’, and Hercules’ families.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Vilma Forgenie, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews.
He was a devoted husband and father. Robert will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him, and will be forever in our hearts. To get our attention he would often say “Oy”. Oy my love, Rest in Eternal Peace until we meet again.
