Obituary of William Hickey
William M. Hickey passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 16, 2021. He was 78 years old.
Bill was the beloved husband of Catherine (Maguire) Hickey. He was the loving father of William (Jacqueline) Hickey, Kathleen “Muffin” (Joseph) Beissel, Laurie (Timothy) McGuire, Suzanne (Sean) Hanley, Raymond (Colleen) Hickey, Thomas (Kristy)Hickey, Mary (John) Purpura. William was the cherished Gramps to 22. He was a dear uncle to many.
Bill was a full time resident of Breezy Point for his entire adult life where he was a member in many social and volunteer organizations. He was the Commissioner of the Breezy Point Men’s night softball league, proud member of the Point Breeze Volunteer Fire Department, Breezy Point/Rockaway Point Catholic Club, and St. Thomas More CYO track coach. He volunteered as a Nassau County Parade Official, women’s softball coach at Christ the King Regional High School, and was an enthusiastic spectator at the many sporting competitions of his darling grandchildren, all while working full time for the FDNY as a purchasing agent in the Buildings Department.
The visitation for William M. Hickey will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home, Brooklyn, on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church, Breezy Point, at 11:00 AM.
