Obituary of Martin K. Farrell

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden loss of our dearest Marty on March 12, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife and sweetheart Maureen (née McSwiggan) and loving children Della (Simon Maceda) and George. He was the cherished son of John L. and the late Dorothy B. Farrell, and the beloved brother of Mary Jean (Huwer), Elizabeth Ann (Pereira), Christine (Edwin Delaney), Jennifer, Joseph (Theresa), Rosemary (Casa), Dorothy (Michael Dwyer), and the late John. He was the son-in-law of Mary McSwiggan and the late Michael and brother-in-law of Michael and Nanette McSwiggan. Martin also leaves over a dozen nieces and nephews and godchildren who treasured his company. 

A retired lieutenant with the FDNY, he was also retired from Local 197, Stone Derrickman and Riggers. He was for many years a dedicated coach for the Hurricanes football program and the Rockaway Rugby league. Marty was a gifted artist and medalled in scale model competitions. He was a man of many enthusiasms and accomplishments, and his greatest achievement was his beautiful and happy family. 

Wake service will begin on Wednesday March 17, 2021 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home. 3024 Quentin Road Brooklyn, NY 11234. 718-339-8900.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later time.
