Margaret Healy

Obituary of Margaret Healy

Margaret “Peggy” Healy (née Sullivan) entered into eternal rest on Saturday, April 11, 2020.  Peggy was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 6, 1927 to Patrick and Bridget Sullivan.  A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, she never wanted to live anywhere else.  After graduating from Bishop McDonnell High School, she went to work at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Manhattan and had very fond memories and great stories about her years there and the friends that she made.  Once she had children, she dedicated her life to being a homemaker.  Peggy loved her cup of tea, long conversations with family and friends, mystery stories and most of all her family.  She was caring and kind and had a great sense of humor.  She was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her.

Loving wife of the late James T. Healy, beloved mother of the late James Patrick, Timothy (Susan), Daniel (Mary) Maureen (Bill), Terry (Michelle), loving grandmother to Jean (Andy), Vickie (Luke), Kerry (Gavin), Caroline, Christopher and Diana. Beloved great grandmother to Kate, Darcy, Phineas, and Asher. Loving sister to Joseph Sullivan (Kathy) and the late Eleanor Schementi (Pete). Loving sister-in-law to the late Dennis Healy (Rose) and the late Frank Healy (Gloria).  Loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.

Since October 2016, she has lived at Sunrise Assisted Living in Mill Basin. We would like to thank the wonderful staff there for the care they gave our mother and for their kindness and dedication.

We will miss her every day but are comforted by our faith that she is in heaven with The Lord and reunited with all those she loved who have gone before her.  Until we meet again, Rest In Peace, Mom.

Because of current restrictions there will be a small private visitation on Monday, April 20th.   We will have a memorial Mass later in the year to honor our mother and celebrate her life.

Thank you to all our family and friends for all your support.  It means everything to us.
