Obituary of Mary C. Artese

Mary Artese, 94, of Brooklyn, New York, left this life on April 5, 2020 and will be missed by many.

Mary was born on June 25, 1925 in Auburn, New York to Giovanni and Antonia Salonia. She was the eldest sister of Rose (deceased), Josephine, and Joseph (deceased). Mary was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Artese for 58 years. She was the loving mother of Martha (deceased), Robert (Theresa), Annette (Thomas), and MaryAnn (Gilbert). She was the loving grandmother of Cori (Christopher, deceased), Christopher (Vielka), John (Rebecca), Lauren, Samantha, Morgan (Craig), Brittany, Michael (Glennon), Dana, and Jenna. She was the loving great grandmother of CJ, Carli, Avery, Johnny, Evelyn, Abigail, Charlotte, and Caden. Beloved aunt and great aunt to many.

As a teenager Mary worked in a factory making parachutes for our soldiers fighting in World War II. Later in life, Mary worked as an aide in the cafeteria at PS 193 where she was beloved by the staff and students.

Mary loved to sew, knit, and crochet. She was an excellent cook; a talent she passed on to her children and grandchildren.

In Mary’s own words, she lived a good life. She passed away peacefully loved by her family.

Due to these extraordinary times, Mary will be cremated. A memorial service and burial will be held at a later date.
