Marie Esposito

Obituary of Marie Esposito

Marie Esposito was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on August 28, 1933 to Mary Carbone and Anthony Balsamo. She was the youngest of her siblings, Tessie, Mary, Mikey, Henrietta, Johnny and Josie, all who passed before her. Now in heaven, Marie will be able to rejoin her husband Joey who left her all too soon. For Marie, there was no such thing as extended family—her niece and nephews were her immediate family and she was always ready to help them if she could. Marie had one child, her son Anthony, who was lucky enough to grow up in this environment. Despite a difficult life, she fully dedicated herself to her son. With the help of her family, she raised him after his dad died when he was infant, and instilled in him a strong sense of moral values. Marie struggled to make sure her son had a Catholic school education, providing him with a strong foundation to grow up and become a respected doctor in his community. He and his wife AnneMarie gave Marie four grandchildren: Joseph, Lisa, Denise and Danielle. Her grandchildren were the focus of her later years and they adored her. She babysat endlessly, cooked for them continuously, pretended to discipline them and spoiled them as only she could. The many sleepovers, block sale days, and late-night calls from college are just a few of the ways they could count on their Nanny. She taught them how to play cards, eat olives off their fingers, bake the old Italian way, and to always remember their family. Her somewhat firm way softened as the years passed, and the children grew into adults who still adored her and now tried to spoil her. Marie will be greatly missed as an aunt, a mom, and Nanny.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May Marie's soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
