Obituary of Marta Iris Garcia

It is with great sadness that the family of Marta Iris Garcia announces her sudden passing on Wednesday, October 23, 2019, at the age of 62 years. Marta will be lovingly remembered by many. Marta Garcia Crespo was such a wonderful woman. Today we celebrate her legacy and her life, thanking God for her time with us. Not only was she a wonderful wife, but a wonderful mother, grandmother, best friend… and so much more. Marta was born on July 13, 1957 in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. She was born to Juan Crespo and Maria Vargas with the siblings Ernesto Crespo, Jose Crespo, Clara Crespo Ramirez, Luis Crespo, Hector Crespo, Rosa Crespo de Garcia and Victor Crespo. In the year of 1977, May 14th, she married Juan Garcia. Marta lived in Brooklyn, NY for 47 years, 12 years in Florida and 2 years in between in the country of Ecuador as the Garcia family was designated as missionaries by Park Slope Christian Tabernacle to open a daughter church in Manta, Ecuador which still exists today. We honor her life in loving memory as a wife, mother, sibling and friend as she entered the arms of our Lord on October 23, 2019. She is now survived by her siblings Clara, Ernesto, Jose, Hector and Victor. Her legacy is continued by her beloved husband Juan Garcia and her children Albert, Sully, Kelly, Josue and her son in law Isaac. In addition to them, she had 2 beautiful grandchildren by the names of Elijah and Joshua Liam whom the mother is Eshley Ann Lugo. Marta supported and loved us all and was always there to help navigate us through life’s challenges in the fear and love of the Lord. Marta may be in heaven now, but she is looking down at us with a big smile on her face saying, “Forge ahead—make the best of life, Trust the Lord—and goodbye for now.” May you rest in peace, God bless and may your legacy live on

Reposing Sunday, October 27 from 7-9 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, New York.

A secondary visitation will be conducted on Monday October 28, 2019 at Marta’s house of worship. The Park Slope Christian Tabernacle. Service to begin at the church for 6:00 PM . 

Burial to take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Canarsie Cemetery, Brooklyn.
