Obituary of John "Russ" Sullivan

John "Russ" Sullivan passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 7, 2019. John was born on May 10, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late John George and Alice (nee Russell) Sullivan. John was the beloved husband of Ursula (nee Kilroy) Sullivan. He was the loving father of John (Tracy), Edward (Diana), Michael (Donna), Brian (Karen), Timothy (Kate), Thomas (Debbie), and Daniel (Beth) Sullivan. John was the cherished grandfather of John, Eddie, Ryan, Eileen, David, Kristen, Austin, Shannon, Russ, Andrew, Juliet, Timmy, Sean, Jack, Kelly, and Grace Sullivan.

John was a proud American, serving his country in the United States Army for two years as a Military Policeman. During his time in the Army, John was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. After discharging from the military, John joined the New York City Police Department, retiring as a Detective. After his time in public service, John and his family embarked on an exciting business venture with Brennan and Carr restaurant, an iconic Brooklyn staple. 


The visitation for John "Russ" Sullivan will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Thursday May 9, 2019 from 6:00 - 9:00 PM, and again on Friday May 10, 2019 from 2:00 - 5:00 PM & 7:00 - 9:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church at 9:15 AM on Saturday May 11, 2019. The Committal Service will be at St. John Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens.
