Obituary of Florence Fonte

Florence “Babe” Fonte was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. She passed on Sunday June 24, at the age of 92 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Babe met and married her husband, the late great Joe Fonte after he returned home from WWII. She was a devoted wife and mother of Linda, Jean, Joseph and Laura and Mother-in-law to Peter. She was a loving Grandmother to Jonathan and Samantha and cherished Great Grandmother of Juliette, Christian and Elliana.

Babe was a homemaker who filled her family’s home with happiness, smiles, laughter and warmth. She brought light and love with her wherever she went. People described Babe as adorable and beautiful inside and out. She was a great cook, impeccable home decorator and a real fashionista. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, dancing, doing crossword puzzles, browsing the malls and talking politics.  She glowed with happiness had a sparkle in her eye until the end. Even through the throes of Alzheimer’s disease, she maintained charm and grace.  The world has lost a precious soul and Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.

Reposing Thursday, June 28 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY.

Funeral on Friday June 29, 2018. Family and friends are welcome to meet at Marine Park Funeral Home by 9:00 AM for the final viewing. Procession will form and depart the building by 10:15 AM. Procession will lead to Florence’s final resting place in Ocean View Cemetery, Staten Island, NY.
