Artie was a kind, funny, generous man. I had the opportunity to spend some time in his home in Florida with other friends. He made sure he got me a bed to sleep on that week. We all went out for breakfast every morning. It was his Birthday week and we all went out for dinner. I am so happy that I had that time to spend with him. Artie was larger than life. He walked in a room and everyone knew him. I've known Artie since im a little kid, but really got to know him better in the past few years. He will truly be missed. Rest in Peace my friend.

To the Marooney Family, there are no words of comfort , but tears for a old friend.... to me , he was the gentle giant... as Im 4'10" , and he always looked out for me... I remember back to the days on Brighton Bay one... with the Hot Dog Wagon, day after day how hard he worked.... always helping others who were in a bad way , and helped them, by either putting them to work, talking or whatever he had to do, to help out.... my Fiance grew up with the Marooney's in Coney Island.... and the last few days heard many stories... such a loss.... He always checked up on me and made sure i was ok all the time when my husband died at 29..... he saw me in the street and called me... said Maria , i got something for you ... and he gave me a single rose... I still have it pressed in my bible.... we spoke Christmas time and on facebook... his life was his family , especially his daughter and granddaughter so proud of them...... this was a shock to me as i am sure it is to everyone..... but now he watches us up in heaven and will still guide us..... gone too soon, but was a legend from good ole Coney Island, rest easy my friend.... till we all meet again... Respectfully, Maria Jacovino

A beautiful write up about an amazing man. Although I remember my uncle the most from my younger years while living in New Jersey, and every time I saw him his sparkling blue eyes reminded me of my grandfather John Marooney so very much. I will never forget the times when the whole family would get together in Brooklyn for holidays. The Irish Festival is one of my fondest memories with him, Aunt Mary, Uncle John, and Aunt Margaret. Being a parent now myself, I can recognize, appreciate, and idolize the wonderful, compassionate father/grandfather that Uncle Artie was. I can only hope that I turn out to be half the parent that he was to Elizabeth. Uncle Arthur will always hold a special place in my heart. I wish I would've had some time to express my feelings to him about the family and hear the (many, many, I'm sure) stories that he had about my grandfather's brother (his father) and their lives growing up. I would do anything to hear some of those stories now. I love you Uncle Artie. May you have eternal peace. You were an angel down on earth to many, your proverbial wings always bringing you to the next person who may have been in need of a friend, or a shoulder to cry on. So, you are undoubtedly flying with the angels who have watched over you your entire life. Rest easy with our family members that were taken mich too soon from us. Be together now. Uncle Artie, we love you.

To the big brother I never had. I knew you for four years, but it felt like a lifetime. I moved to Lighthouse Point to be close to you. I miss seeing and talking with you EVERYDAY. My day was not complete until I talked to you and sat outside on the patio to have coffee with you. We always talked about how grateful we were to live on the water. I thank God for the time we spent together. I will never forget the laughter and conversations we had!!
I will always love you and never forget you.
