To start off, I would like to offer my condolences and apologies to the entire De Marco family and Kathy. From the time I was about 7 years old to 13, Michael and I were as close as I was with any friend in my entire life. He's the reason why I played little league at Our Lady of Grace and he's the reason why I love horror movies. We used to stay up all night watching horror movies or wrestling pay per views. Kathy would go to the store and get us chips and candy. This was when Michael lived on Avenue J (both apartments on Avenue J). We would go to the mirage diner together and he'd get hot open turkey with gravy and I would get an omelet. He knew everyone there and it felt so cool being there with him. He was by far the best athlete out of every friend I ever had. He was really ahead of everyone at Grace. I went to baseball games and wrestling events with Michael (Wrestlemania 24 and 25) in Orlando and Houston. To this day, it's the furthest away from home I've ever been, and it was with Michael. I have countless memories with Michael. I love him. He has marked a lasting influence on my life. When I found out he was diagnosed with cancer, it was the day of my sister's sweet 16. I found out when I got home. I went in my room and I cried really badly. I was only 14 years old and I didn't know how to react to such a thing. At this point in my life, Michael and I weren't as close and we once were, but it still hit me deep in the heart when I found that out. Michael was loved by so many people and he will always live on in the lives of the people he positively influenced, including myself, his family members, Mike C, Mikey met fan (who by the way, I never met, but he seems like such a great guy. Michael was lucky to have a friend like you who was there at all times, through thick and thin. And you're lucky to have a friend like him because you already know he was a very honest and loyal person). Michael was the best friend I could ever ask for and the memories we shared will be remembered for the rest of my life and I will share all of them with my future kids. I love you Michael. Rest in peace. To Michael Senior, you are a great dad. You have Michael everything he could've wanted and as kids, you took him and myself to places I only could've dreamed of going to. You are the type of father that I want to be like when I'm older. To Kathy, the same thing applies to you. You are a great mother and you used to let me sleep over and watch wrestling and horror movies with Michael, whether it was when you lived on either apartment on Avenue J or Avenue W, you always made me feel very comfortable when I was there and you were always so nice to me. I remember the big Shawn Michaels lifesize cut-out that Michael and I used to laugh about in the basement, and the thousands of wrestling action figures Michael had. You are the best mom a person can be. I am so sorry for your loss. I don't know if anyone will see this, but regardless, Michael will see it in heaven and that makes me feel good. Thank you for letting me share these words.

Where to even begin. Me and Michael weren't the closest of friends, especially over the past few years, but he is someone I've known since I was 11 and he was around 9. When I moved to Avenue J from Sheepshead Bay, I didn't have very many friends, but Michael was one of them. He used to come over my parents' small apartment and wrestle with me and my brothers in our room. When we weren't trashing the room, we were usually out playing baseball in the school yard of PS 99. We even played in the same little league! Michael was always the far superior athlete than me. He would be absolutely crushing the fastball when I just couldn't catch up to it. Michael is going to be missed by many and more. I wish him peace in heaven, and wish all the strength onto his family in this tough time.

Hello, my brother! I have no idea where to begin. When we met in High School (2007) I never thought I would be meeting the person that would end up being my carbon-copy, However, we got super close over the years due to the fact we have so much in common. No matter what we did together; we always had an amazing time. From the countless hours we spent doing things as simple as: Having a catch, going on the swings, having Spumoni almost everyday (HA!) or just a long walk to talk about baseball and girls to the more extreme things like going down to Florida to see our beloved Mets in Spring Training.
However, the road in between wasn't quite smooth. You suffered a great deal when you were diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 17. After numerous treatments, you are able to defeat it. Years later, it came back. In 2014, you were diagnosed again and beat it AGAIN! You had a bone marrow in April of 2015 and were doing well until you developed brain damage. You continued to fight as hard as you can, until Cancer decided to attack your body when it was at its weakest. A cowardly move by cancer cost you your life. I refuse to say that cancer "won". You were and will always be the strongest person I know and I'm glad we have all of the memories we do. Please know that I'll always be by your side. I know you'll always be by mine! Throughout this whole miserable experience, I got to meet your EXTREMELY supportive family. They can be crazy at times, but what family isn't?!? I'm proud to say that I now have a second family, just when I thought that one was more than enough!
The aforementioned memories we have are truly irreplaceable. Yes, no matter what we did or the extremity, every minute spent with you were terrific. Mikey, words cannot express how amazing you ARE. I say ARE, because you ARE always going be alive in our hearts. We all know that you always cared for everyone and are one of nicest people we have EVER met. You definitely will be missed, but I know that memories will have will live on forever.
I love you with all of my heart, bro!
Love: Your best friend and BROTHER,
Mikey Metfan.
