Margie's was one of the first faces we saw when the dream of getting on The Greatest Job In The World was ever closer to becoming reality. Always calming and encouraging, remember her words which rang prophetic, "you have no idea how good your life is about to become"....the FDNY Family has lost one of our treasures, an old school approach whose heart had room for everyone.

Every moment I spent in your company was a happy one.
I will pray for your family and love ones; that they will be at peace with the memories of the wonderful example of a woman who always showed "Dignity and Grace."

Margie hired me 7 years ago to work in her unit at the Fire Department and she was my supervisor for 3 years. She was as fine a person who ever walked God's good earth, a great friend and a highly respected mentor. I begged her not to retire 4 years ago as she was by far the best boss I ever worked for. She had high standards and demanded perfection from her staff while being fair and kind. Margie loved the Fire Department and all its members, was proud of her Irish heritage and treated everyone she met, regardless of background, with the utmost respect. Farewell, my dear friend and role model. I'm afraid there will never be another like you as you left a lasting legacy. Requiem in Pace.

Marge,
I remember meeting you when Larry and I played little league together some 35 years ago and Laura has always been one of my best friends. I will miss you dearly. As I've grown older, you were no longer Mrs Prather but my friend. Watch over your family and keep them safe.
