Obituary of Theresa Iazzetto
Theresa Aliperti Iazzzetto (Terry) was born April 24, 1921 in Brooklyn NY to James and Carmela Garone Aliperti. After a rich, full and service filled life she died and entered into eternal life on August 10, 2015 in Lynchburg Virginia. Besides her parents, Terry was predeceased by he husband, Sam, her five brothers, Louis, James, John, Frank and Paul and her son in law, Kevin O’Hare.
She was the beloved mother of Amelia (Anthony) Sucich and Carmela O’Hare, the treasured grandmother of Diana (Paul) Cassidy and Elizabeth (Alexander) Nelson, the loving great grandmother of Patrick and Robert Cassidy and Edward Nelson the adored aunt and godmother of several nieces and nephews and the faithful, devoted friend and mentor of many.
Terry was married to Sassio (Sam) on July 14, 1946. They settled on Brown Street in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn in 1952 where they raised their family. Sam died in 1989. Terry attended daily Mass in her beloved Good Shepherd Church until 2012 and faithfully ministered there in many different capacities until 2010 when Alzheimer’s began her slow decline. She was also active and acted as a mentor to many in the community.
In 2012 Terry moved to a memory care assisted living facility in Lynchburg Virginia where in spite of her Alzheimer’s she continued to minister to the staff and residents. She was lovingly cared for by Carmela until her death early Monday morning.
Her wake is at Marine Park Funeral Home on Thursday, August 13th from 4 PM – 8 PM. Her funeral is at Good Shepherd Church at 10 AM on Friday, August 14th at 10 AM. Interment at St. Charles Cemetery.
