George DiCostanzo

Obituary of George R DiCostanzo

George Rocco DiCostanzo, age 67, of Breezy Point, NY died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on August 5, 2015. George was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Upon graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School, he attended Richmond College and earned his Masters degree from New York University Poly Technic Institute . He also served in the National Guard. He brought his brilliance as an engineer, along with his analytical and intuitive mind, to all of his roles in his banking career. He worked diligently and tirelessly for his family, whom he loved with all his heart. He was always very much a part of his children’s lives, from coaching Little League and softball to offering career and life advice and guidance. One of his favorite roles in life was being a grandfather. He loved his grand-kids with a big heart and would do anything for them. He loved playing trains with them, building erector sets, teaching them math, going to museums and reading with them. He enjoyed his retirement in Breezy Point and Florida with his wife, Stella, the love of his life. Going to the beach and exploring Florida were some of his favorite things to do. He also loved Sunday family dinners with fresh pasta and gravy and spending time and talking his family. He was always generous and compassionate and had a profound effect on the many lives that he touched. His motto was to never be afraid to be more than you are, and to never give up. George was a devoted husband, loving and caring father, grandpa 'Papa', brother, cousin, and friend. His steadfast love and affection for his family carried him through an aggressive battle with cancer. He fought it with strength, courage and dignity until the very end. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed. He leaves behind his loving wife, Stella DiCostanzo, of 43 years, his children, Denise (& Patrick) Ryan, Andrew DiCostanzo, daughter-in-law, Cara DiCostanzo, and grandchildren, James and Abbey Ryan and Pearl DiCostanzo, and his brother, Martin DiCostanzo. Predecessed by son George DiCostanzo & grandson Christopher DiCostanzo, parents George and Ann DiCostanzo, and brother Kenneth DiCostanzo.
