Lucie Santoro

Obituary of Lucie G. Santoro

After only a few days at Methodist hospital, the woman at the visitors desk would just have to see the formation of the first syllable of “Lu” to know that this was yet another of the steady stream of visitors coming to see Lucie Ann Gilburg Santoro. She was such a magical, loving person, that everyone that knew her just wanted to share their memories and messages of adoration. Dancers who had grown up with her beaming presence, experienced her constant nurturing, encouragement, and nourishment at Covenant Ballet Theater of Brooklyn (CBT) came to celebrate her in her final days. Her family and friends came to kiss her still stunningly, beautiful cheek and cloak her in the love that she always gave to them. Family was the most important thing in the world to Lucie. Not only did she grow up with an incredible family, she was blessed with the rare gift of finding true companionship with Pasquale. She bore two incredible children who provided her with endless satisfaction and fulfillment. Her son Christopher Paul was the kind of man anyone would be proud to know. She was constantly amazed by his brilliant brain and adoring heart. They shared a love for cooking, gardening, opera, and nature that was fueled by a ferocious appreciation of life. Her daughter Emily Rose followed in her footsteps and they both shared an unbridled passion for dance. Lucie was the kind of mother that shared her strong beliefs, yet she was also brave enough to allow her children to make their own choices. She was so proud of their career paths and truly adored her daughter-in-law and son-in-law. Lucie was beyond grateful to her friends and family that supported her during the last few difficult years. She felt all of the prayers and love for her and Christopher as they valiantly battled disease together. May her kindness and generosity of spirit live on in all of our hearts. When you see a beautiful dance, please think of lovely Lucie… and smile. Because of Lucie’s passion for CBT please consider keeping her legacy alive. http://covenantballet.wix.com/covenantballet#!donate/cl4h
