Obituary of Vito Marangi

Vito Marangi, age 95, of Brooklyn passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at his home in Brooklyn. Vito was born September 24, 1919 in Brooklyn, NY. He is the son of the late Angelo and the late Maria (Mauro) Marangi. Vito served in the Army from 02/24/1941 to 09/03/1945. He served with the Fourth Armored Division of the Third Army, which was one many troops that landed in Normandy, June 6, 1944. While serving, Vito received the American Defense Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal With Bronze Arrowhead, and Good Conduct Medal. Vito was married for 62 years to his late wife, Irene, and is survived by his children Batton, Irene, William, Nancy, and Mary, his grandchildren Emily, Allyssa, Thomas, Alex and Julia, and two sisters, Marie and Anna. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be named to Vito's favorite charities: Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans Foundation, The Veterans of Foreign Wars or the veteran charity of your choice.
