Obituary of William J. Reid

Heaven is a lot more fun....and we continue to mourn the loss of Bill Reid, a man who was so full of life and goodness. To know him is to love him. Bill was born in 1936 in the Bronx to Mary and Thomas Reid. He was the youngest of three having oldest sister, Mary and older brother, Tom. Being true to the devoted husband he was to Teri (Fabbricatore) he made sure he lived to be with her on their 56th wedding anniversary. Bill and Teri raised 6 children in Brooklyn - Thomas (Susan), James (Joan), Daniel (Nancy), William (Kathleen), Theresa (Rocco) and Christine (John). He has said his favorite days were those fun, crazy years in Brooklyn and the holidays spent with the extended family. Bill loved and enjoyed being with his many nieces and nephews and I think it's safe to say he was everyone's favorite uncle. He treated all of them like they were each his favorite. Nobody adored Bill like his 16 grandchildren. He got a kick out of each one of them. He had such an easy going way about him that kids (and pets, Cleo and Murphy) were automatically drawn to him. Whether he was teaching them to swim, to drive or sneaking them to Carvel they all cherish their "Papa". Bill had an old school work ethic and spent 50+ years in the Metal Lathers Union, Local 46. He was known for treating everyone with respect and for stirring up a bit of trouble especially on pay day. His favorite place in the world was at the beach, specifically Roxbury, which he refered to as God's Country. His best friends were there and could always be seen laughing with him. He loved to socialize, sing and of course, "break shoes". He was a one of a kind type of guy who some might say is a bit of legend in Roxbury. The world was a better place with Bill Reid in it. May we hold a piece of him in our hearts so his fun and loving spirit will always live on.
