Obituary of John J. Wallace

John J.Wallace, 63, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 8:10 a.m. after a short battle with aggressive digestive cancer.  The Family thanks the staff at Mt. Sinai Hospital for their care. 

Born in Brooklyn's Midwood Hospital on August 7, 1962, John was the youngest of seventeen siblings. He proudly followed in his father and brother's footsteps into the fire service after a short attendance at college.  John loved being a firefighter and gained accolades quickly.

John loved the holidays, he made Christmas special for his many nieces and nephews, and even recently bought an Easter Bunny Chocolate to make time spent with his brother special.

He was a natural-born leader, passionate, decisive, direct, and often hilarious.  He could weave stories like a true Irishman.  Returning to his childhood home in Brooklyn for the past decade to be with family after living in Staten Island, his most recent hobbies included caring for the home's flower garden.

John will be deeply missed.  He is predeceased by his father and mother , five siblings (3 brothers and 2 sisters), many aunts and uncles, a nephew and niece, and in-laws.  He leaves behind his 11 loving siblings (8 sisters, 3 brothers) and extended family including many nieces and nephews who have great and fond memories with Uncle John.

The Committal Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2026 at St. Charles Cemetery.
