Obituary of Maureen G. Hewitt
Maureen G Hewitt beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on March 19th at the age of 86, surrounded by loved ones. She lived in Gerritsen Beach her entire life and raised her family there.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on November 19, 1939 to Norman and Catherine Ford, she lived a beautiful life of family, faith, and love. She was known for her strength, good advice, kindness and for how much she loved her family. She was a devoted mother to Lorraine (Ed), and Gregory. An amazing Grammy to Christiana, Emily, and Sophia. A wonderful sister to her brother Bob, and his wife Carol, who she loved dearly. A loving aunt to Kristie (Nick), Corin (George), Jamie (Dillon) and a great aunt to Vin, George, McKenzie, Nico, Jake, and Christian. She was loved by her granddogs Louie and Simon, whom she adored.
She was a true believer in God and believed she would be with him one day.
She enjoyed many things, sitting at her cabana at Breezy, walking on Kiddie Beach catching up with friends, going to dinner and shows with her lady friends, working at Kingsborough with her My Turners, spending holidays with her family, drinking a cosmo, a coors light or a mudslide, sitting with her dog Louie, planting in her beautiful garden, and of course smoking a cigarette.
But what she loved most in this world was her children and granddaughters who she devoted her life to and loved more than words could explain. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially her family and friends and especially her girls: Jenny, Lori, and Mary who took the best care of her for the last 2 years and made her life so special.
The visitation for Maureen G. Hewitt will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
