Obituary of Servillano Carrera
Born in Binmaley, Pangasinan, Philippines, he lived a life filled with dedication, diligence and faithfulness. After completing college in Pangasinan, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served our country through the Vietnam War, aboard the USS Boston CAG-1. Serge continued his service with an extensive career with the US Customs Service, and later, Homeland Security as a Management Programmers Analyst from which he retired. He survived the 9/11 disaster, escaping his workplace at the World Trade Center.
Serge is survived by his wife of 55 years, Felisa, his daughters, Maria (Theodore) and Melissa (Douglas), and grandchildren, Natalia, Isabella, George, DJ (Douglas Jr.) and Sylvie. He dedicated his life to not only his family, but in ministry to his parish, St. Rose of Lima Church, as a Eucharistic Minister, and to the Brooklyn Filipino Diocesan Community, hosting monthly Sunday Masses in Tagalog. Alongside Felisa, he was awarded the Diocese of Brooklyn Shining Star Award for his service and ministry.
Serge was a role model, protector and patriarch of his family. His absence will be felt deeply by his family, friends and all those with whom he crossed paths.
Wake service will be on Friday March 20, 2026 from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home. 3024 Quentin Road Brooklyn, NY 11234, 718-339-8900.
Funeral mass will be on Saturday March 21, 2026 at St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. 269 Parkville Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11230.
Committal service will immediately follow to Green-Wood Cemetery. 500 25th Street Brooklyn, NY 11232.
