Obituary of Reverend Michael J McGee
Reverend Father Michael J. McGee, a beloved priest, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 6, 2026. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him, and in the many communities he faithfully served throughout his life.
Fr. McGee was born on May 7, 1951, in New York, NY, to Florence and Robert McGee. From an early age, his life reflected a deep love for learning, service, and faith. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Brooklyn on April 30, 1977, and from the moment of his ordination, his priesthood was marked by humility, generosity, and unwavering dedication to the People of God.
Fr. Mike will be remembered as a man of great integrity, deep compassion, and quiet strength. His kindness extended far beyond his assigned ministries. He was always ready to assist fellow priests, celebrate Mass wherever needed, and care for parishioners with patience and love.
Fr. Mike is survived by his brother, Bill; his loving sisters Margie McGee, Nancy Dockstader, Janice McAuliffe, and Kathleen Daniels (Stephen); his brothers-in-law Mike Nulty and Bill Dockstader; and his sister-in-law Patty McGee.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Florence McGee; his brothers Deacon Robert, John and Richard McGee; his sisters Judith and Patricia Nulty; his brother-in-law Daniel McAuliffe; and his niece Emily Daniels.
Fr. Mike's legacy lives on through his many nieces and nephews: Daniel and Richard McAuliffe; Christine (Scott) Fagan; Alexandra (Jeremy) Schwob; Brian (Harriet) Dockstader; Timothy (Kate) McGee; Sean Nulty; Brendan (Lauren) Daniels; and Nick McGee, as well as countless great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends from every chapter of his life who loved him dearly and will forever cherish his memory.
Services in celebration of Fr. Mike's life and faith are scheduled as follows:
Viewing: Monday, February 9, 2:00 - 5:00 PM, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 21-47 29th Street, Astoria, NY
Vigil Mass: Monday, February 9, 7:30 PM, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 21-47 29th Street, Astoria, NY
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, February 10, 10:30 AM, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 21-47 29th Street, Astoria, NY.
Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, Queens.
Fr. Mike lived a life poured out in love and service. Though he has been called home, his legacy of faith, compassion, and selfless devotion will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
