Obituary of Kaii You Ly
Kaii You Ly, age 67, of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was born on January 3, 1959, in Cambodia to the late Kroch Ley and the late Kaii Oan. He was the eldest son in a family of five children.
In January 1983, Ly immigrated to the United States with his family. Arriving with limited financial resources and little knowledge of the English language, he worked diligently to build a better life. Although he attempted to pursue education to improve his English, financial hardship prevented him from completing his studies. Undeterred, Ly sought employment and eventually secured work with the ABM Company, where he was known as a dedicated and hardworking employee.
Ly was admired and respected by those who knew him, both in the workplace and in the community. He lived a simple and humble life and found joy in quiet walks in nature, caring for plants, and maintaining his physical health at the gym. He was known for his strong character, generosity, honesty, and forgiving nature. A loyal and loving friend, Ly gave freely of himself without expecting anything in return.
Above all, Ly was a devoted and loving father to his two beautiful daughters, Esther and Rebecca, who were the center of his life. He was deeply committed to their well-being and took great pride in their accomplishments. His love for his daughters was evident to all who knew him.
Ly valued his friendships and maintained many meaningful relationships throughout his life, especially with his close friends from work. He will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, warm smile, and deep love for his family and friends.
Ly is preceded in death by his brother, Kho You, and his sister, Rany Kaii.
He is survived by his daughters, Esther L. You and Rebecca L. You; his brother, Thai You Kaii; his sister, Kol You; his nephews, Phrintana You, Victor You, and Joshua W. Kaii; his nieces, Melissa You, Kaitlin S. Kaii, and Emily J. Kaii; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
