Obituary of Marvin J. Chen
Marvin Chen passed away on December 30, 2025. He was born in Trinidad and Tobago, where he spent his early years and worked as a sailor by trade. Marvin always felt at home on the water, and his love for the sea stayed with him throughout his life.
In the 1960s, Marvin moved to the United States, where he met the love of his life, Angela. Together they returned to Trinidad to be married before settling back in the United States to begin their life and family together. They proudly raised four children: Darrell Alfonso, Denise Alfonso, Raquel Figueroa (Angel), and Susan Chen-Hall (Jason).
Marvin was a devoted grandfather to Christiana, Breana (Cole), Dante, Amber, Shae, and Satomi, and a loving great-grandfather to Lily, who brought him great joy.
He was the beloved brother of Annette, Kenneth, and Linda, and the late Malvin, his twin brother, with whom he shared a special lifelong bond.
Marvin was known for his active lifestyle and friendly nature. He loved riding his bike and did so daily, commuting to his job at Maimonides Hospital. He was a warm, outgoing person who enjoyed joking and making others laugh. Marvin also had a deep love for animals, especially his cherished grand-dog, Mochi.
Marvin will be fondly remembered for his kindness, humor, and love of family. He leaves behind many treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
