Obituary of Dorothy Anna Luhrssen

Mrs. Dorothy Anna Luhrssen passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in Brooklyn, New York. She was a beloved mother, wife, sister, and aunt.

Dorothy was most passionate about her family, raising three daughters and three granddaughters with her husband of 56 years, Alexander. She was a constant at all of her children’s events, always cheering them on from the sidelines. Dorothy spent much of her free time enjoying nature, especially gardening and long afternoons at the beach. A lifelong member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Dorothy spent her Sundays attending Mass.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Alexander Luhrssen; her daughter, Dorothy Channaj (Michael); her daughter, Jessica Burris (Jarrod); and her daughter, Alicia Zombek (Michael). She has three beautiful granddaughters: Saadia Perry (Michael), Leila Channaj, and Julia Zombek. Dorothy also has two brothers, Roy Finno (Judy) and Walter Finno (Barbara); a brother-in-law, Dan Reid; and many nieces and nephews that she held dear.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorothy Finno, and her beloved sister, Julia Reid.

Dorothy Luhrssen’s final resting place is Evans City Cemetery in Evans City, Pennsylvania.
