Milo was born on August 27th, 1948 in Istria, Croatia to Milan and Zora Uckar and grew up in the small village of Hreljici with his three sisters - Livija, Rozalija, and Rina. He held his family dear and took great pride in the values instilled in him and the humble beginnings from which he came.

In his early twenties, Milo had an opportunity to gain engineering experience in the Maritime transportation industry which would launch his 40 year career and life in U.S. Milo returned to Croatia and found his love, his wife, Ljubica, before relocating to New York to truly live the American dream.

Milo was a simple man who worked tirelessly and selflessly to provide and care for his family. He was immensely proud of his career in the maritime industry, his Istrian roots, but most all the family he helped build. His greatest joy came from life’s simple pleasures—savoring traditional food, producing “vino” in his garage, and sharing of “rakija” with those he loved.

Milovan is survived by his beloved wife, Ljubica; his sons, Michael Uckar, married to Jessica, with their children Ella and Michael; Robert Uckar, married to Toni-Marie, with their children Nicolas, Anthony, and Joseph; and his daughter Vanessa Schindler, married to Bart, with their children Luka, Milo, and Violet. Along with many family and friends who loved him dearly.
