Luis Loperena Rosas

Obituary of Luis Antonio Loperena Rosas

Loving brother to Aida Nannette, and cherished uncle to Javier Luis, Shalimar Kristina, Little Javier Isidro, and Lissette.

Louie was a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, who found deep camaraderie and comfort in his visits to the Brooklyn VA. His service and loyalty were among his greatest sources of pride.

He once served as a paraprofessional in a Brooklyn school for troubled boys, offering guidance and care to those who needed it most.

Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Louie was deeply connected to his roots. He carried his Puerto Rican heritage with pride and had an unbreakable bond with the island—especially his beloved Crash Boat Beach. His extended family, spread between Brooklyn and Puerto Rico, was central to his life and heart.

Special thanks go to his cousin Tony Rosas, whose frequent calls brought joy and memories, and to cousin Norma, always present with support. A heartfelt recognition also goes to his devoted health aide, Nadia Avila, whom he affectionately called “Mami” for the loving care she gave him.

Luis, you will be deeply missed.

You remain forever in our hearts.

Reposing on Sunday, August 10 from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn.

Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 AM on Monday, August 11 at St. Thomas Aquinas R.C. Church, 1550 Hendrickson Street, Brooklyn.

Luis will be brought back home to Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, where he will be laid to rest in Monte Cristo Memorial Park—his hometown, and the place he always carried in his heart.
