Obituary of Richard M. Kirshy
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Richard M. Kirshy, 75, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. A devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, dear brother, and faithful friend.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Richard was the son of the late William and Emily (Ellien) Kirshy. He lived his entire life in the borough he loved, building a beautiful life rooted in family, service, faith, and community.
Richard served proudly in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1972, earning the National Defense Service Medal.
For 54 blissful years, Richard shared his life with his beloved wife, Rosemary B. (Dunne) Kirshy. Together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and enduring memories. He was the proud father of four children: the late Richard Kirshy, Jr. (Jennifer), Michele Martell (William), Daniel Kirshy (Leslie), and Jennifer Arzberger (Francis). His greatest joy was being “Gideau” to his treasured grandchildren: Logan, William Jr., Scout, Kristen, Jack, Sean, and James.
Richard is also survived by his brother Robert Kirshy and was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Kirshy.
For over four decades, Richard was a dedicated member of St. Nicholas Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, where he served faithfully as treasurer. The church wasn’t just a place of worship for him—it was a second home and a community he loved deeply. His steady presence and generous spirit left a lasting mark.
To those who knew him, Richard will be remembered for his warm heart, and deep love for his family.
A faithful servant, a loving soul, and a steady light—Richard's legacy of love and devotion lives on in all who knew him.
In the hearts of his family and in the grace of God, his memory will be eternal.
