Obituary of Jeremiah P. Collins Jr.

Jeremiah “Jerry” Patrick Collins Jr., age 95, of Brooklyn, NY and Remsenburg, NY passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025. Jerry was born on November 8, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Jeremiah and Julia (Regan). He was predeceased by his brother John Collins and his sister Margaret Collins Shanks.  He graduated from St. Leonard High School in Brooklyn. After graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Army 2nd Infantry Division both in Fort Lewis, Washington and Fort Dix, New Jersey. Following his discharge Jerry joined the New York City Police Department where he was a proud officer for over 30 years. Upon retirement Jerry joined Saloman Brothers Inc. in their security department.

Jerry married the love of his life, Sarah (Sally) Scullion on September 16, 1950. For the past 75 years, they shared a love like no other and a lifetime of cherished memories, becoming one. Jerry leaves behind his loving wife and children, Jeremiah Collins III (Suzanne) of East Quogue N.Y., Alison Guerin (Gary) of Brooklyn, N.Y. and Nancy Csorba (Michael) of Westfield N.J. They all brought him immense joy and pride throughout his life.

Jerry’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He cherished gathering around the dinner table with a nice cold beer and sharing stories, and took every possible occasion to be present supporting his family. He could be known for riding his John Deere mower, making sure every blade of grass was even, or multitasking watching football all weekend and playing a rigorous game of solitaire on his iPAD.
