Obituary of Molly McKinney

Mary “Molly” McKinney, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025. Born in Mitcheltown, County Cork, Ireland, Molly was the beloved daughter of the late John and Margaret O’Grady.

In 1957, Molly immigrated to the United States, where she met and married the love of her life, the late Thomas “Junior” McKinney. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, faith, and Irish tradition.

Molly was the devoted mother of Nora McKinney, Tom (Ellen) McKinney, and the late Kieran (Dawn) McKinney. She was a cherished grandmother to the late Thomas, Louis, and Kelly, and a beloved member of the extended McKinney and O’Grady families, all of whom will miss her deeply.

A devout Catholic, Molly was a life-long parishioner at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, where her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her spirituality and compassion inspired those around her.

One of Molly and Junior’s greatest joys was their home in Meenacladdy, Donegal, where they spent as much time as they could. That special place was filled with laughter, music, and the warmth of community. Friends and neighbors would stop in for a cup of tea and often stay long into the night for a sing-song — evenings filled with storytelling, melodies, and joy.

Molly had a deep love for the Irish language, traditional songs, and dances. She carried the spirit of Ireland with her wherever she went, and she passed that love on to all who knew her.

She will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, devotion, and the joy she brought into the lives of others. Her close friends, whom she considered family, will miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations in Molly's memory to St. Columba Roman Catholic Church.

The visitation for Molly McKinney will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Thursday, May 22, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:00 AM - the family will be gathering at the funeral home by 9:00 AM. The Committal Service is private.
