Obituary of James A. McKelvey

James A. McKelvey passed away on February 19, 2025, at the age of 78.

James was the cherished husband of Elizabeth McKelvey, with whom he shared 46 wonderful years of marriage. He was the devoted father of Marissa (Jarrod) Basile and James (Christine) McKelvey and the loving grandfather of Joseph, Jenna, James, Thomas, and Christopher.

A proud veteran of the United States Navy, James dedicated his life to service, both to his country and his community. He worked for the MTA as a Transit Worker for 33 years, ensuring the city kept moving. He was also a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #126, where he found camaraderie and purpose in his faith and service.

James will be remembered for his hard work, devotion to his family, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The visitation for James A. McKelvey will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2025 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM & 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at 10:00 AM - the family will be gathering at the funeral home by 9:00 AM. The Commital Service will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Green-Wood Crematory.
