Mrs. St. Bernard
An ever glowing smile of wonder with a voice that pierce hearts with questions of life.... A lady loved an adored by many as could be seen and heard in the many accolades of appreciation. My fondest memory is from when I answered a call for help with a family not knowing who they were and getting to meet her husband and realizing that these two lovely people the mister being ill at the time and needing care in a busy home where Mrs. was always on the go with music, work and family were the parents of my hearts' first love.... shocking as the son bopped downstairs and into the kitchen, oh my.. what a way to meet a secret love and family
Anyway she was a joy to visit with whenever I came to town and I treasure our moments and talks though she is missed beautiful memories of her will keep her alive in our hearts especial my youngest who still talks about her making cookies with her gran-daughter
My condolences to the loving family of Elaine St. Bernard. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting her, I am certain I would have enjoyed it. Having only seen her through the eyes of her daughter Merlynne, my impressions tell me that she was a woman of strength from a great family of the island of Carriacou, Grenada, with a staunch Christian faith; a faith she lived powerfully within her community of Brooklyn, New York.
Gifted: Evidently manifold ... but to name just two Homemaker in that sweet traditional island style; organist; she used her musical gifting in the service of her church, both at Our Lady of Victory RC and, at St. Thérèse of Lisieux RC.
Nurturing: volumes are spoken when one learns what is witnessed of her home and family ... the inclusion of family and friends in the warmth of her home.
Loving: the cheer and concern shown with neighbours, reflects to this day a great ricocheting of warmth.
Community spirit: practiced - as she taught them - by her children, her grandchildren and even her great grandchildren.
Respect: she taught it to her children, bestowed it on those she met; earned and received it too.
To Merlynne and all of The Family of Elaine L. St. Bernard: your Mom has departed in faith to her reward. She rests now in Peace; and yet she lives on in you. You will know this truth when, after the tears of your overwhelming and immediate grief, you remember her in all the greatest and the littlest things you do, that will keep her legacy living in you.
