It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived. -
George S. Patton

I never knew Vincent, but I watch the boatlift video regularly to remind myself of the presence of good, decent human beings in this world, who do what they can, even when they don't have to. Thank you to the Ardolino family for sharing Vincent's good, warm soul with the world.
Today is the 20th Anniversary. A day to listen to all the names, and to remember the many heroes who stepped up and then went back to the ordinary lives most of us live. With gratitude and blessings.
I just watched the Boatlift video for the first time as a student in high school who was born after the attacks. Your bravery, selflessness, and courage will forever be remembered. You inspire me to take action and care for everyone equally, no matter anyone's background. Thank you for saving more people than you could ever know and risking your life for the American people that were helpless at the time. You are missed and have the most beautiful soul.
I just want to say thank you Vincent for risking your life to save people that day I wasn't alive when it happened but to me you are a soldier and a super hero your power having the ability to save everyone without thinking salute to you rip from Christian
Even though I never met him personally and most people who will comment or give their condolences here haven’t, I know he was a good man with his actions and from his spirit. His story will forever be in my mind along with everyone else’s on that fatal day. He was a good man and even if you don’t see my message because it had been 2 years I want his family to know that he will not be forgotten.
we were learning about the 9/11 attacks today in class, and we watched Boatlift. Vincent stood out to me the most. I loved his drive and motivation to help all of those people. Although I've never met him before, it sure would have been an honor. "never go through your life saying you should have"
“I have one theory in life: I never want to say the words, ‘I should have.’ If I do it and I fail, I tried. If I do it and I succeed, better for me. And I told my children the same thing. Never go through life saying you should have. If you want to do something, you do it.” - Vincent R. Ardolino
Captain of the Amberjack V
Rest in peace.
I just watched BOATLIFT for the first time. Mr. Ardolino's words at the end of the film moved me and compelled me to "find him" on line. I was hoping to send him a personal note to let him know how his words inspired me. Since he's an Angel in heaven he already knows.
I was married on 8/25/01 and on my honeymoon on 9/11/01. We were in a foreign land and all we could do was search for updates on CNN. An unimaginable tragedy was unfolding and I was guiltily grappling with this one thought..."I just married a police officer...what happens when he runs towards danger and doesn't come back?" I now know exactly what it means:
I have one theory in life…I never want to say I should have
If I do it and I failed…I tried. If I do it and I succeed…better for me
And I tell my children the same thing…never go through life saying you should have…If you want to do something, you do it
Mr. A...I am going to do things and will make sure my son does too! No should have's. I will now celebrate you every August 25th and remember you on 9/11.
Thank you and God Bless your family...Brenda
