Anita Marie Bello passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026, at home, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 69 years old. Born on July 14, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, Anita was the cherished daughter of Fanny and Alfred Calabro. She was raised in a close-knit community within the parish of Our Lady Help of Christians, where she developed a deep faith, a love for friendship, and a strong sense of community. Such values remained at the heart of her life.
Anita was the beloved wife of Thomas “Tommy” Bello, with whom she shared 47 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and togetherness. She was a loving and devoted mother to her four daughters: Aleana, Alissa, Alexa, and Allegra who were the center of her world. She also adored her four son-in-laws; Billy L., Ray, Sean, and Billy G. She often said her daughters “won the lottery” with them, though in truth, they were the ones who were blessed by her endless love and pride. Anita is survived by her dear siblings: Jeanette Israel and Ross Calabro. She was predeceased by her beloved sister, Lorraine, with whom she shared an especially deep and unbreakable bond. Their love and friendship remained a guiding force throughout her life.
Her greatest joy was being “Neena” to her treasured grandchildren: Brock Lytle; Mackenzie, Sadie, and Jack McGrisken; Fianna Clooney; and Luke, Savanna, and Colin Greenberg. She poured her heart into each of them, creating everlasting memories.
Anita had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel seen, valued, and loved. She had a natural creativity and an eye for detail that made everything she touched feel special. She was especially known for her homemade pizza, her mac and cheese, and most especially, her cream puffs. These meals and treats brought her family together time and time again. Her warmth, kindness, generosity, strength, and radiant smile were her trademarks, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Anita’s life was a testament to love, faith, and family. She leaves behind a legacy that will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as the heart of her family, an angel on earth, now at peace in Heaven.
