Dear Pappa, The Superman, The Myth, The Legend. I’m going to miss you so much. You will always be in my heart. I cherish every memory we shared — thank you for being there for my birthday. I’m so grateful I got to see you. You are so strong — my Hulk. You and Mamma will always be our guardian angels watching over us. Your smile lights up every room and our lives. I’m especially thankful to have my Hunky Monkey stuff animal with your voice — it’s so special to me. I'll never forget the joy of watching our shows together. I especially loved watching Ninja Warrior, Golden Girls, Bobby Flay & our Game shows together, playing all our card games, Rummikub & singing songs- those moments were ours, and they’ll stay with me forever. Pappa you always made me feel happy & that I can do anything. You made everyone & everything better. Every time I saw you Pappa you always made my day. Thank you for always being there for me. Making sure I was ok and always showing me how much you loved me, I love you more than words can say. You’ll forever live on in my heart and memories. God had blessed us with extra time together and the miracle of being able to say goodbye. I’ll always treasure that. We will forever be birthday month buddies — and I’m so grateful for that too. I’ll miss my superhero Pappa. I know you’re just a prayer away, ready to save the day. You will always be my Superman. I feel so lucky to have had you in my life. I’m thankful we were able to go on trips to Villa Roma and Atlantic City this summer— memories I’ll hold close forever. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. Daddy,You are truly such an amazing man. How can we ever capture the depth of your impact, the love you gave so freely, or the way you lived with such quiet strength and unwavering selflessness. You always put others before yourself. It was just your nature whether it was your family, your friends, or even a stranger who needed a hand. You gave without ever expecting anything in return. You had this rare gift—the ability to take away everyone’s sorrow, pain, and worry, just by being you. You had a calm voice, a warm hug & a reassuring word. Somehow, you always knew what we needed before we could even ask. Your life needs to be celebrated because it was a life of meaning, of purpose, of love. Everything you did, you did for your family. There was truly nothing you wouldn’t do for us. From the smallest sacrifice to the biggest decisions, your love was always guiding everything you did. You led by example—through hard work, humility, laughter, and faith. You never needed recognition. You just showed up, again and again, for everything. Daddy, you are our inspiration. You made it to 80 years—a beautiful milestone that reflects a life lived fully. To Our Daddy, Our Amazing Incredible Remarkable Spectacular Superman; Our hearts were first shattered 3 years ago on September 14, 2022, when we lost our beloved Mommy. Now, three years and three days later, on September 17, 2025, our world is once again broken as we face another devastating loss, our incredible Daddy. The world is mourning the tremendous loss of a truly loving, generous, and compassionate soul-Nicholas Grillo our Daddy, who touched every life he encountered. Our world is forever changed by this profound loss. The ache is deep, an intense wound that feels impossible to heal. You are more than our dad, you are our protector, our anchor, our guide , our best friend, our hero, our inspiration & our heart. You are Pappa to your cherished grandchildren: Aliana, Enzo Nicholas, and Juliana. You lifted us up, gave us strength, and helped us soar. You were the wind beneath our wings & You are who we aspire to be. You made this world a better place because of who you are and how you lived your 80 remarkable and impactful years. You lived your 80 years with grace, purpose, and deep faith. You were inspired by Maya Angelou’s words: “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” And Daddy, no one will ever forget how you made them feel, loved, seen, safe, and cherished. You were a source of strength, joy, compassion, and unwavering love. You changed people with your presence, your light, and your love. So to know you & be loved by you & was not just a comfort or a gift it was the greatest blessing and that love will live on in all of us. Your faith was unshakable. You lived to serve God, to be a good & faithful servant (Gospel Matthew 25:21), to love others without hesitation, and to lift up those who had lost their way. You had left nothing unsaid or undone, you did God's work. You gave us endless joy, laughter, happiness & fulfillment & created a beautiful family & legacy. The memories that will last our lifetime. You had always reminded us: “Que será, será whatever will be, will be, the future is not ours to see, you would say dont worry if it is supposed to happen it will happen… It’s all in God’s hands & it's God’s plan. We must believe standing here at your funeral mass is God's plan. God needed you in heaven to continue your work by Jesus' side now as Majestic Divine Angel with limitless reach, impact & power. It was a gift for Carmela and me to be by your side in your final 11 days. We shut out the world, held your hand, and never let go. That time meant everything to us. We felt Mommy’s presence with us watching, waiting, gently guiding you home. It was our deepest hope and prayer to help deliver you from this life from the loving arms of your daughters, Carmela and Concetta. into the eternal embrace of your beloved wife, our beautiful Mommy, your Rosetta. On September 17th, you were reunited in heaven where love never ends and life is everlasting embraced once again by mommy the love of your life So how do we move forward after losing both our mommy & daddy, our heart and soul. We hold on to the comfort of knowing you’re together again, surrounded by our family & loved ones in heaven, wrapped in God’s eternal love. Daddy, thank you for your unconditional love, for your strength, for your example of what it means to live with kindness, courage, and faith. We are heartbroken but we are forever grateful for every moment we shared. We hope you know that our greatest blessing in life has been having you and Mommy as our parents and as Mamma and Pappa to Aliana, Enzo, Nicholas, and Juliana. You will never be forgotten. Where do I even begin. The love you have shown me from the minute I was born is something I will be eternally grateful for. You were my second father, you were always there for me through the good times but especially the bad ones. You always knew what to say and how to put a smile on my face even when no one else could.When you hugged me its like world stopped suddenly there was nothing to worry about. I felt safe like whatever was going on I will be able to get through it because I had you by my side. You always believed in me and told me I could do whatever I wanted even if I didnt believe that myself. To say you are the strongest person I know is an understatement. All the sickness and pain that you went through and still came out with a smile everytime shows the man you are. You never wanted us to worry about you no matter how sick you were. Everything you did was for our family. You were the most selfless, loving person I know. You have impacted so many peoples lives in unimaginable ways. You mean the world to me and that will never change. I will forever cherish our memories together whether it was goodnight calls, playing cards, watching game shows and especially our talks. The advice you have given me is something I will live by and never forget. You have taught me to love myself before I can love anyone else which is something everyone should live by. You have made me the person I am today. I could go on about everything you have done and the life you have lived but no words and no time can do you enough justice. Dear Pappa, I can’t even comprehend the thought of losing you and not being physically here with us anymore. It still doesn’t feel real. I am going to miss you so much! There aren’t enough words to properly express the level of impact you had on all of our lives but, I will try my best. You meant the absolute world to us! You will always be my best friend, confidant, role model, #1 supporter and most importantly my grandpa! The entire world lost a truly special, loving, humble, generous, hardworking, compassionate, strong-willed, selfless and remarkable person. I don’t know what I am going to go without you! You always made sure me, Aliana, Jules, Nick and even, Mom, Dad and Parina were always taking care of. You and Mamma were the glue that held this family together and blessed us with such an amazing life. You have given us more than we could ever ask for. We are so incredibly grateful! Dear Pappa, On a day filled with much sorrow and longing I owe it to my grandpa to change the tune. A man whose life was filled with so much love and gratitude deserves to be celebrated more than mourned. Over the past few weeks I’ve sat with the idea that Pappa’s presence is something that will be missed each and every day not only by my family but by all of the lives he’s touched. A life that possesses such wisdom and positivity is a life that lives on every day. Through a piece of advice you’ve kept with you, a memory soaked in tears either happy or sad, a helping hand, or comforting hug, a piece of him is carried with each of us wherever we go. No one person can live up to the example of a life my Pappa lived with so much strength. For much of my life I assumed that every family was like mine. Grandparents who retired and gave up their life to live for their grandchildren. Who fulfilled every want, supported every dream, defended every wrong doing, but the older I got the more I realized that couldn't be farther from the truth. Not many people truly know how much Pappa meant to me. A Pappa who snuck me down to his house to read me stories, sing me songs, and let me snuggle up in his bed almost every night. If I spent 5 out of 7 days in the week with him, or simply speaking to him, those two days not only lacked his presence but his love and an abundance of laughter. To be loved by him was to be adored, inspired, and safe. No matter what was going on in our lives, one phone call, one simple exchange, made all the difference. His smile, his wise advice, his jokes, and reminders of how he saw each of us, erased any shadow of doubt or moment of sadness. Most of my life people have praised me for how wonderful of a granddaughter I seem to be. Each time I was more confused than the last. Each facetime as I walked to class, phone call to say goodnight, moment filing his nails or shaving his face, each meal cooked together, song sung, card game played, and doctors visit driven to wasn’t because I was trying to be a good granddaughter. I was simply returning the love he had always shown me. My grandfather not only showed his love for others with words, but with actions, unwavering support, and a look of endearment followed by a smile. Through every nail he painted, ponytail he put up, tear he wiped, laugh he caused, smile he complimented, and story he told, I learned what unconditional love was. It was what I had always known love and family to be, I was simply a reflection of him. Each person he met would find out within a matter of minutes that his eldest granddaughter was going to be a PA or in PA school, which was quickly followed by my explanation that I was simply still a sophomore in college. But to Pappa that didn’t matter, he didn’t see our downfalls or simply just the stage in our lives we were at now. He saw the people we dreamed to become and the ones he so surely knew we'd be. I can’t say that I hope I’ll make him proud because he reminded me at every moment that I did. A man so humble and gracious is bound to be infectious and he most certainly was. Pappa’s words meant more to me than anyone else's. So much so that I even used a quote he had always told me in my yearbook. “Take a piece of everyone’s advice, but never leave your own.” Something he hadn’t realized was that after all these years, my own advice was just a compilation of the words he had always told me. What a blessing it has been to grow up with my pappa, each moment we shared isn’t just a memory but truly a piece of me. So now with each passing day I’ll fill these empty moments with Patsy Cline songs, an old photo or video, and the parts of him that live on within me every day. Although our hearts ache, we can’t help but find some comfort and joy that he is reunited with our beautiful Mamma in heaven with no pain or suffering. Our hearts may have broken but on that day his was put back together, a testament to the incredible love they shared. If there are any people you’d want to watch over you, it's the two of them. The strength and power of their love and support felt here on earth is only a fraction of what I know we’ll feel to have them walk beside us every day. With that, I ask that we all find that comfort in knowing that his heart is now full and his presence is closer to us than ever. Uncle Nick, it's with a heavy heart that I'm writing about you telling people my fondest memory of you. My funniest memory was when I was in high school and me knowing damn well you were a teacher there and I still had the nerve to cut class and full well seeing you walking toward the spot I was cutting class at. Me ducking behind the dumpster watching you enter the building and me thinking to myself HA, I got away with it and then you having the last HAHAHA on me when you come behind me and hear you say Jeanne, get to class!! I remember growing up still thinking it was cool yet a royal pain in the ass living on the same block with your Aunts and Uncles. It was like having police watching all the time. And yes it was me who usually got in trouble or Ratted out by one of you guys. LOL!!! I wouldn't trade those days for anything, thats what made our families strong and taught us the meaning of family. Uncle Nick, I am elated to have had 55 years of my life with you. I enjoyed all the talks, you helping with homework when usually I wanted to punch Carmela during that time with the homework because she would say you don't know that? I do!!! Then you would yell at her and tell her to go inside and leave us alone. So many memories and I would do it all over again. I enjoyed holidays playing cards, games and get togethers that we shared. Uncle Nick, I know you are finally resting pain free and are with all you loved and lost while being here with us. Now its their time to have you to celebrate and make memories up in heaven that you can share with all of us one day! Please please please give my mom hugs and kisses for me and let her know I will be home with her one day. Uncle Nick till we meet again. Love you now and forever your crazy cursing niece :)
