Obituary of Winifred M. Sheridan

Winifred Marie Sheridan passed on the morning of July 12, 2016 at Mount Sinai Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. She was 73. Born July 7, 1943 to the late John and Lillian Leonard in Queens, NY. Raised in Brooklyn where she met and married Joseph Sheridan on May 14, 1966. Together they raised a beautiful family and were married 50 years. Winifred was greatly caring and devoted to her children and grandchildren, taking up the roles of educator, supporter, confidant, and source of fun in each of their lives. She and her husband adopted three children at a later stage in their lives and raised them side by side with their grandchildren. She was actively involved in Metropolitan Baptist Academy, Kings Highway Church, and Covenant Family Fellowship and volunteered her talents with the choirs, youth groups, and visiting missionaries. Winifred’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was a defining attribute of her life in times both wonderful and trying. Beloved wife of Joseph. Loving mother of Joyce and her husband James Savino, Jennifer, Johanna, Josiah, Gabrielle, and Nathaniel. Cherished grandmother of Amanda, Jonathan, Brendan, Hannah, and Elizabeth. Adored friend and mother-figure to many. Her smile and kindness will never be forgotten.
